    Saturday April 12th - Railfest2014!

Events we brought you at RailFest2014...

    Museum Open House & Tours
The Rosenberg Railroad Museum is a perfect reflection of the bond between the railroads and the community they helped create. Rich and colorful, that bond is the common thread that makes up the very fabric of our community. Climb aboard the “Quebec”, our 1879 Business Car, and see our display of a railroad “speeder.”

    Model Train Layouts
Learn about “the world’s greatest hobby” model railroads, as you enjoy watching the miniature world of trains. Our Education Station hosted 3 operating layouts in G, HO & S Gauge, as well as the kids’ favorite Thomas the Tank Engine. We also unveiled our plans for a NEW G-SCALE GARDEN RAILROAD at the museum, and other coming attractions.

    Hobo Jungle of the 1930's
You went back in time to the 1930's when you visited our Hobo Jungle and experienced period re-enactments of the Depression Era railroad community portray the history of that time, and the men who “rode the rails.” Kids made a Hobo Bindle!

    Trackless Train Ride
What? A trackless train?? Everyone loves a ride on a train that can go anywhere! We hope your family enjoyed unlimited rides on this year's mini-train. Last year at RailFest2013, we enjoyed the participation of Union Pacific Railroad and their beautiful UP Replica Mini-Train. They tour the miniature train all around the country at all types of events, and are sometimes booked years in advance. They have offered to bring the train back to Rosenberg for RailFest2015.

    RailFan Activities
You enjoyed a day of fun railfan activities as you watched many of the 60+ trains that travel the rails behind the museum every day. You may have noticed that many of the engineers of trains going by waved and blew their horns at YOU. They could see that people were out there celebrating TRAINS, and know that you really appreciated them. This year we were treated to some rare views of old engines and unique boxcars. Some of our staff took photos of this "rolling history" and we will share them here with you.

    RAFFLES

One visiting mom won a free Child's Birthday Party at the Museum (a $125 value). Another very lucky visitor won a "one-of-a-kind" Handmade Quilt featuring an original design by Alix Ambler Fair showcasing Railroad Hobo Symbols. All proceeds for these two raffles went to benefit the Rosenberg Railroad Museum.
